# Database Instance

Use **OmniFabric > Database Instance** to create and manage a CloudSigma database instance.

## Create an instance

1. Open **Database Instance** and select **Create Instance**.
2. Under **Cloud Provider**, select **CloudSigma**.
3. Select an available region, such as **MNL2**. The regions shown in the console are the regions available to your account.
4. Under **Instance Capacity**, choose one of the available capacity modes:
   - **Free Trial** for evaluation. The console displays the included compute and storage capacity and explains any performance limitations.
   - **Production** for a production workload. Review the capacity and price shown in the order summary before creating the instance.
5. Under **Access Control**, set the password for the database administrator. The administrator user name is **admin**.
6. Configure the **Network Policy**:
   - **Access from anywhere** allows connections from any source address.
   - **Access from a specified IP address** limits access to the addresses you provide.
7. Enter an instance name and review the summary on the right. Confirm the provider, region, capacity, and monthly cost.
8. Select **Create Instance**.

The summary identifies the instance type as **Serverless** and displays the current cost in credits. The values shown in the console are authoritative for the selected region and capacity.

## Connect to an instance

After the instance becomes available, open its connection action and copy the host, port, user name, and connection command provided by the console. CloudSigma database instances use the MySQL protocol and can be accessed by compatible clients and drivers.

Before connecting from an external client, confirm that the client's public IP address is allowed by the instance network policy.

For language-specific connection examples, see [Development](https://omnifabric.cloudsigma.com/docs/developer/overview/index.html.md).

## Manage an instance

Open the instance details page to review its current status and available actions. The actions that appear depend on the instance state and the capabilities enabled for your account. Follow the confirmation dialog before changing access settings or removing an instance.
